The Offender Services Program is based on the best practices and the ethical standards of the Association for the Treatment & Prevention of Sexual Abuse, (ATSA). Current research indicates that the most effective and widely recognized therapy for sexual offenders is cognitive-behavioral therapy integrated with a skills-oriented program that targets the client’s criminogenic needs and is enhanced with goal direction, as in the Good Lives Model, and includes a formal maintenance and relapse prevention module. Additionally, research outcomes appear to indicate that structured cognitive-behavioral groups are successful in helping persons who have committed sexual offenses maintain control over their deviant behaviors that have been targeted in treatment. These models have also been correlated to reduce recidivism rates.
Treatment planning utilizes group, individual, family, and couples therapy. The primary component utilized is group treatment, which promotes optimal benefit by allowing for challenging, reality testing, risk needs responsivity, and additional support from other group members.
